One of the best things about purchasing or owning a historical home or building is the beautiful woodwork. From well-crafted built-ins to custom trim, most historical homes put modern homes to shame when it comes to woodwork. One of the challenges of renovating or remodeling an older home can be trying to match the old custom trim. It’s not like you can go to a local lumber yard and just pick up trim exactly like the 100-year-old trim in your home.

Match Your Existing Trim with Our Custom Trim Services

The good news is that it is possible to match your existing trim with new custom trim. It requires a fair amount of experience and craftmanship, but that’s just what you’ll find at quality woodworking companies like us here at McMillan Millwork & Joinery. We can match all kinds of custom trim, from moulding and baseboards to windows and doors.

To recreate your custom trim, we will need a sample of the original trim to replicate. From that pattern, we will create special, custom “knives” allowing us to cut out more pieces of trim that look like the old trim. As you can imagine, this process can take some time and can make the trim more expensive, but it is well worth it to preserve the historical appearance of your home.

We can produce custom trim in small or large amounts, though the linear price for small jobs is increased significantly by the setup process and fees. We have also created custom trim for new construction. If you haven’t found the perfect trim for your new home at the store, come talk to our designers and get exactly what you want.
